Stratosphere, Excalibur or Tropicana

Heading to Vegas with 2 buddies next month. We purchased cheap air tickets, now looking for a decent hotel room. I have looked online and the best rates for when we want to go are at the Stratosphere, Excalibur, Tropicana or IP. We dont%26#39; need anything too special, just a bed and a shower. Our criteria is based on location and the pool, since this is where we plan to spend some time each day. So, out of the 4 options which would best suit three 22 yr old males, who simply want a pool and decent location?

Stratosphere, Excalibur or Tropicana

If I had to say one it would be Excalibur...but one of the newly re-done rooms.

Tropicana is a dump but not sure how the pool is.

Stratosphere is waaaay on the North end of the strip.

Never even been in IP before so cant tell you one way or another about pool or rooms. It is centrally located.

Better pools are MGM, Flamingo, Mandalay Bay, or Mirage.

Stratosphere, Excalibur or Tropicana

avoid stratosphere if you want a good location. location wise out of the three i would go for the tropicana

You dont need anything special..

Your are not getting anything special believe me.

Rule out Strat, way to far north strip, no action in the area.

You want pool and Decent location, this is a hard one considering they are all fairly bad hotels.

Trop has the best pool of the bunch, but not the best location.

IP is really a rat hole but the best location.

Excalibur is more kids and families not really a place for 22 year old%26#39;s.

I say dump them all and stay at the Flamingo, at least it has two things going for it, decent pool and decent location other then that a pretty ratty hotel also.

If there are three of you why not spend a little more money and stay in a class hotel instead of a low level run down joint?

If those are your three choices: Stratosphere, Excalibur, Tropicana or IP, I would chose Excalibur. Better yet, put in Flamingo. The strat is so north end and the trop is a dump.

Excalibur is probably fine if you get a newer room. We%26#39;re staying there in a couple of weeks because we like its location and low cost. They have cheap food/drinking/gambling options and it%26#39;s near a lot of other places so you can go out and party at night. I%26#39;ve stayed in nicer properties on the strip but always feel locked in to paying for more expensive restaurants bars etc when there. Apparently they%26#39;ve expanded their pool area too.

My first responce would be none of the above. But if I had to pick one of the 4 choices it would be the Tropicana, pretty nice pool area last time I was there.

I vote for the Tropicana--the rooms are run-down, but the pool is great and it%26#39;s in a good spot. The Excalibur%26#39;s rooms are a little nicer, but when we went it was packed with screaming kids. The pool wasn%26#39;t great and they closed it at some ridiculous hour every day, like 3:30pm or something. I know they want you in the casino gambling, but come on.

You might also check out Hooters, next to the Trop. It has a nice pool area, nicer rooms than the Tropicana, and it can be a great deal.

I had a great time at Excalibur the first week of March. Had a free upgrade to TowerII room, which was roomy and spotless, the staff was great to myself and sil, the location was great, walked to MB(loved it)Luxor,NYNY,MGM. There were plenty of ';twentyish'; guys having fun and I saw very few children. The pool area was nice, heated so it was open. I was really just looking for a bargain spot to sleep and was a little worried after hearing it dissed so much on here but it was really quite a pleasant stay. Of coarse that was in March, could be different in June.

I just had to make the same decision about three weeks ago for a trip we%26#39;re taking in July. I was looking at all of those places, plus Flamingo. We ended up picking Excalibur based on pool, location, cost, and a thorough reading of reviews. Flamingo was a close second--some reports said the pool was nice but in need of maintenance (although we haven%26#39;t been there ourselves). Excalibur recently added more pools and cabanas and the pictures looked good. Good luck with your choice and your trip.

we have visited Vegas for years and always avoided the EX, well the drop in construction business put us on a budget so now its our top pick, so long Mandalay Bay.

The upgraded rooms are pretty good, good casino, they got the party pit girls, they apparently have added strip poker, always 2 live bands playing, pool is good enough, good location. The Excalubur prices are usually fantstic, it has been working for us very well.

Here is a tip, on the weekends it gets flooded with hotties for the Thunder from Down Under shows for their bachelorette parties. Happy hunting.
