Mirage Tower Suite vs. Palazzo Luxury Suite

Oh, no! It’s another “This Hotel vs. That Hotel” thread! Shoot me now! : )

Wife and I are going June 19- 23. The first two nights (Fri/Sat) we’re staying comp’ed at Main Street Station downtown. For Mon/Tue, we wanted to move “upstream” where we could access a pool with our daughter (just 2 and never been swimming before). First I got a good deal at the Mirage in a Tower Suite for $120 per night ($240 total) and it includes an $80 food credit and 4 tickets to the S%26amp;R Secret Garden. We would almost certainly use the food credit and at least 2 of the passes for the Garden ($15 each), so call it $130 plus taxes for the two nights for just room for comparison purposes. The Tower Suite has a real separate bedroom, so our daughter could be in her bed in the other room so we can all sleep better (a real bonus).

Just after booking this at the Mirage, I got an offer and was able to book the same two nights at either the Venetian or Palazzo for FREE. This is for a standard suite which of course does not have the completely separate bedroom and the only extra perk is a $25 slot credit.

The price difference is not really that great, so money aside, which is “better”? We have not stayed at either property before.

--Mirage is known for great pools, but I’ve also heard that they are often VERY crowded and hard to find chairs/lounges. Venetian/Palazzo have a combined 7 pools, but I don’t know much about them. We won’t be spending hours and hours at the pool, but we do want to introduce our daughter to the pool for a short time each day. Don’t want to bake her Washington-white skin, either.

--Mirage has a larger room with separate bedroom, which is a better sleeping arrangement. BUT, they have not remodeled these suites so it will be “older” and have a plain TV instead of 2 LCD/Plasmas. We WILL likely be watching more TV this trip because of our girl.

--Location: similar, but we I think Mirage is slightly better located for visiting Caesars, Bellagio, Paris, PH. V/P closer to Wynn where we will likely visit %26amp; eat (once). We will have a rental car.

So I’m very torn. Palazzo would be slightly cheaper, newer and have better TV. Mirage has a slight edge in location and is a better room arrangement for 2 adults + 1 toddler. Pool is a toss-up. HELP! Any info or experiences that you guys can provide to help me decide are welcome. Thanks!

Mirage Tower Suite vs. Palazzo Luxury Suite

I think you have answered your own question. The Palazzo is the better hotel given your circumstances. While I am a MIRAGE addict I beleive the Palazzo would serve you and your 2 year old better. The TV%26#39;s at the Mirage in the suites are still old and there are not many channels to choose from. True the suites are bigger at the Mirage with seperate bar and bedroom and dining area so lots of space but the pool is crowded as you know.

I would stay at the PALAZZO and give your little one the 5 star luxury treatment. ENJOY. Either way you will have a great time.

Mirage Tower Suite vs. Palazzo Luxury Suite

If your Wife and you stay up later than your daughter then the Palazzo might be a problem becuase the suite is not two seperate rooms.

The Tower suites are not run down, just a bit dated and the furniture is pretty good quality.

The Hospitality Suites are the ONLY suites at Mirage that have been renovated so far so maybe you can see if they are available for your dates of stay. There are some Hospitality suite photos that have been recently by people here on TA.

Signature at MGM Grand, Trump, Palms Place, The Hotel, and Marriott Chateau also have 1 bedroom suites that are newer/up-to-date rooms. All 5 of these hotels are all-suite hotels that either have studio-suites or 1 bedroom suites.

www.youtube.com has videos for all of the hotels I suggested(including Mirage tower suite and Palazzo suite) that have been posted by people on their vacations.

If I were going with my own wife and toddler (3 years old), the separate bedroom at the Mirage would be hard to pass up.

When we travel with our little girl, she goes to sleep by 8:30 or so. Meaning that all we can do in the room is watch TV *very* quietly or hold whispered conversations.

I don%26#39;t think I%26#39;d be able to pass up a separate bedroom, is what I%26#39;m saying!!!

The pool at Mirage is likely to be more crowded than at Venetian/Palazzo, if only because it%26#39;s smaller. But your days at the Mirage are weekdays, which might make the crowds more manageable.

I just wanted to add that since you are going during the week which is when I also like to visit Las Vegas you can have a much broader choice in places to stay becuase the hotel rates can be much more reasonable then.

The Hotel during the week can be around $159/per night. All of the other all-suite hotels I mentioned can and often do run around $209/per night for a 1 bedroom suite.
