Buffet Payment Machines?

We are not big buffet-goers but we went to the Mandalay Bay buffet for breakfast this morning. We were shocked to find that there were no lines of people waiting to pay. In fact there were no traditional cashiers to take your money. You had to pay at a machine!

There were 1/2 dozen payment terminals. You had a choice of paying with cash, card, or charging to your room.

This is the first time we had seen this. Do all the MGM-Mirage buffets have these now?

Buffet Payment Machines?

You are in Las vegas NOW??? That%26#39;s not fair and I am going to call secuirity...lol...Just kidding.

I have a buffet post up tonight too. :o)

Buffet Payment Machines?

those were there when i went in jan but there was still a regular cashier. we didn%26#39;t bother with the machines

WOW, that%26#39;s weird!!!! You pay at a machine instead of a cashier, I guess it%26#39;s due to the economy cutback.

Hmmmm. The roaming change people with their carts diappeared. The change people in booths disappeared. Now the cashiers at the buffets are starting to disappear? I wonder what group will be the next to disappear?

2112ps: Unfortunately our flight home left before 2 this afternoon. So we sometimes go to a breakfast buffet to tide us over until we get home. And MB%26#39;s breakfast buffet is one of the better ones. And arguably the nicest room for a buffet with the morning sun coming in.

Yes, our first thought also was for the employees who lost their jobs.

I have seen these types of machines at the Rio Buffet. I havent used them because I had a $5 off coupon and could only use pay using the cashier.

Makes perfect sense.

Automated machines work as ATM%26#39;s, check-in kiosks, TITO redemption, change machines and all manner of business.

No reason not to use them for something so easy as this.

I am waiting to see Robot cocktail waitresses.

Have to disagree. I would feel comfortable using a machine but there are still alot of people who haven%26#39;t caught on to stuff like TITO and ATMs. They are probably wasting labor on people offering assistance that would be better spent on cashiers.

It was only a matter of time.....
