Downtown Vegas feeling groovy..free rock concerts

The Fremont Street Experience in downtown Las Vegas is paying tribute to 1969 for 108 days this summer with free rock concerts plus a plethora of other reminders of that oh-so-groovy era. Blood, Sweat and Tears, Three Dog Night, the 5th Dimension, Rare Earth, the Grass Roots and Canned Heat are some of the players expected to show up between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends.

Videos depicting the era will also be displayed on wide-screens on Fremont Street. The 10 casinos located in down Las Vegas are hoping the plan will draw traffic to the area. It%26#39;s estimate the group is spending $1.7 million on the campaign, which is designed to evoke an emotional reaction in visitors in their 50s and 60s. Each property will also pay homage to 1969 in its own way.

We%26#39;re planning on checking out the Grassroots there on the 4th of July after dinner at Hugo%26#39;s Cellar. Can%26#39;t wait!

:-)

Slix

I%26#39;ll be there for BS%26amp;T.

Nice, Lowrance! I could pick out each of those tunes too. So far for the time I am going to be there (a huge portion of June for that matter) appears to not have anything scheduled. I hope it is hopping and groovy while I am there between June 15 and 22 so I can go downtown for big fun.

From the post a couple of weeks ago on the subject.

Yeah, I love the idea of this, but don%26#39;t understand why only something about June 6th, then nothing till July 4th-ish.

Wow that sounds fab i cant wait to see it. Im a huge 60s fan.

Whilst we are talking Rock on Fremont Street, to paraphrase a Grateful Dead song

Nothin%26#39; shakin%26#39; on FREMONT Street. Used to be the heart of town.

Don%26#39;t tell me this town ain%26#39;t got no heart. You just gotta poke around.

You think you%26#39;ve seen this town clear through.

Well, well, well, you can never tell.

Nothin%26#39; here that could int%26#39;rest you. Well, well, well, you can never tell.

It%26#39;s not because you missed out on the thing that we had to start.

Maybe you had too much too fast. Maybe you had too much too fast.

Or just over played your part.

Going now to dust of my old Tie Dyes which oddly seem to have shrunken over the years.

I told my wife that her only job for early next week, is to point out the %26#39;WINNING%26#39; slot machine, to allow us to win enough, so that we can stay until Saturday night... and see one of the greatest Canadian Bands ever, %26#39;The Guess Who%26#39;.. (well, probably just Bachman and Cummings..but that%26#39;s alright).. She gave me the stink-eye..=(

Sigh...that would be GREAT...walking down Fremont street, and listening to American Woman... Laughing.. These Eyes...

Ok.. done my dreaming now...thanks...

Since I%26#39;ll be there May 28th to June 4th, I was hoping to see at least one of the bands but no, none scheduled. I may have to make an extra trip this summer. This so up my alley since I graduated in 69 and my class reunion is at the end of June!
